How might we foster a community of upskilling in cooking among young adults by making it a more positive and streamlined process?
An app that matches users' ingredients input to recipes uploaded to the platform and provides educational instructions
This UX prototype was created as part of an assignment exercise for MDDN417 Design Concepts. By following the double diamond framework, we utilised the information gathered from desk research and interviews in affinity mapping. From the insights gathered, we went through the process of rapid prototyping from low-fidelity to high-fidelity. As this was our first UX design, we prioritised convention to create a digital product that is modern and has great usability.
To address the brief and insights more closely, we implemented features that are not available on the analysed precedent apps.
First is the feature that allows users to search for a recipe based on what ingredients they have on hand. This search filter function is designed to be upfront with its affordance in customised search input. This function provides young adults with easy access to recipes that best suit their situation at the time, making cooking a more convenient process.
Second is the tip modals on the recipe ingredients and instructions page. By providing additional useful information, users are able to integrate active learning into their cooking practice. This feature allows young adults to upskill and acquire new knowledge on a single platform. Therefore, further making cooking a more streamlined experience.
